Hovercraft over snow and ice

Hovercraft have a very light footprint, and when hovering weigh similar to a seagull standing on one leg. Every year, Snowmobiles fall through thinning ice and as they are not designed to float, riders succumb to the freezing cold and suffer from hypothermia.

The Hov Pod Hovercraft is unique, manufactured from highly buoyant High Density Polyethylene (HDPE). Traditionally, small hovercraft are manufactured from thin fibre glass which can shatter if struck by ice; furthermore glass fibre is not buoyant, it can shatter, allow water to ingress into the hull, and sink. The Hov Pod SPX TCC is therefore quite unique – very strong and impact resistant, and extremely buoyant. We have tested the Hov Pod to take over one ton in weight before water ingresses into the hull. Furthermore, the Hov Pod uses a third generation skirt material far stronger than the skirts found on traditional hovercraft – we tried and rejected neoprene coated nylon (degraded by UV) and Hypalon, as lightweight materials that are too easy to tear.

Whether you wish to use the Hov Pod for leisure, for reaching your cabin for winter vacation, or for rescue, commercial or survey use, the Hov Pod provides a far safer option than traditional hovercraft made from glass fibre. Contact us for further details. http://www.hovercraft-hovercraft.com/
